History

Slate was born in the year of the 68th Hunger Games. She was orphaned as a young girl and spent most of her life living and surviving on the streets, alone. Due to this she was often abused and mistreated by residents of District Nine and grew up feral. At one point during her childhood she found the house from her memories as a toddler to find a couple and their new baby living there. Out of pure jealousy she set the house on fire - and it is implied she killed her birth family, however it could be disputed that a new family was living there when it was set ablaze.

During her teen years she found Sebastien Rothul and The Pack, joining the gang and swearing allegiance to it. A Peacekeeper visited her before her 12th birthday and asked for a last name. As a joke she listed Sebastien as her father despite him being only 10 years her senior, officially adopting his surname for reaping records. <p>In the year of the 83rd Games Sebastien went missing, presumed dead. The Pack was thrust in to anarchic chaos with no true leader. Loyal to Sebastien, Slate refused to admit he was dead or that he had abandoned her and the pack until she was reaped.

Pre-Games

On the train ride to the Capitol, Slate and her district partner Fangor Redtail ate so much food (without the use of cutlery) in a short space of time that she was sick that night.

During the Training Centre, Slate often got into trouble attempting to start fights with the other tributes. She particularly distrusted D4M Cole Hailsham and D1M Torren Jaroux, picking fights with them throughout, which resulted in her receiving grievous bodily injuries during the arena.

Slate received a training score of 8 for sadistically carving up a training dummy's main arteries and veins.

In her interview Slate commented on how much she enjoyed barbeque wings, referring to the food she practically inhaled on the train ride.

Trivia

  • Slate's official last name was Rothul, after she gave her gang leader's surname to a Peacekeeper collecting missing record information. As an orphan, she had no actual last name.
  • In the 'in-between', a fictional afterlife for Zoe's tributes, she brought a mountain.
