Drace Vandel was a tribute of the 64th Hunger Games. He is most known for going crazy after he lost his arm, and his fling with fellow tribute and ally Xanthus Grimm despite having girlfriend back home.

Life Before the Arena
Drace and his little sister, Damea, were born into a very wealthy family in District Three. Unknown to him, his parents made most of their fortune through illegal schemes, theft, and marketing of counterfeit products. It is for this exact reason that one day, while Drace was out gambling, someone set fire to the Vandel residence. The flames were enough to kill both of his parents, as well as severely scar parts of his little sister.
For a few months, he tried raising Damea, who was only a little girl when the fire occurred, by raising money through gambling. Drace was actually a phenomenal gambler, and was even known as "Poker Face Drace" to everyone within his circle, but the riches he raised on gambling alone were still not enough for him to pay for an apartment, as well as food for both he and Damea.
So, with this in mind, he signed a contract with a very wealthy man by the name of Magnus Nox. The contract stated that he and Damea would be allowed to live in Mr. Nox's mansion and he would provide food and clothing for them, but Drace was given a "lifeline balance," meaning that he had to pay Mr. Nox a certain amount of money-- achieved by any means necessary-- at the end of every month, or the consequences would be dire. If he paid, he got to stay. If he didn't, his balance dropped. If it were to ever reach zero, he and Damea would both be executed. If he paid off his debt in full, he'd receive a payment large enough to live on for the rest of his life.
For the most part, Drace's performance was flawless. He and Damea stayed for about three years and, after endless pleading, he had even agreed to let Damea sign a contract of her own. He only needed to make a few more payments before he was completely free from his obligations. Things were gonig pretty well, actually.
Except for one small detail: the boss's daughter.
Drace's attraction to Valencia was undeniable and as the days turned into months, and the months into years, he found it harder and harder to resist her advances. He knew admitting his feelings for her, both to himself and to anyone else, would quite possibly result in his termination, so he tried to keep them secret for as long as possible.
He did end up breaking, and gave into his own selfishness. He'd only been seeing Valencia in secret for a couple of months when he was reaped.
