Life

Early Life

Martin and Jessabelle Teflin had Ceres on April 6th in the year of the 43rd Hunger Games. She was their first child, but in the year of her fourth birthday she was blessed with a younger brother, Mars. Ceres never lacked for comfort or necessities, even in a poorer District, because her parents were both successful research scientists. It became apparent, when Ceres turned eleven, that this was a job that struck much closer to home than any of the Teflins could have guessed, because Mars suddenly developed lung cancer. In the following five years, much of the family's money was invested into Mars' treatments. Ceres hoped that one day she could become a veterinary scientist, to follow her passion and help sustain her family, as well.

59th Hunger Games

The Reaping

Ceres was Reaped along with Aesop Bloom in District Six's 59th Games Reaping. When her name was called, Ceres became instantly aware of her situation, but frozen to the spot. It's a natural reaction for new tributes to get scared, and Ceres was no exception. However, her relief when it was Aesop who was Reaped instead of her brother overpowered her own fear, and she made her way to the Justice Building with very mixed emotions.

Training Centre

Although most of her conversations in the Training Centre were only comprised of brief introductions or words of courtesy, Ceres did manage to secure a place in an alliance with Michael Smith, Midas Farrow and Elise Wheaton. In her Private Training Session, Ceres displayed her skill with close combat, impressing the Gamemakers with a series of blows on several dummies and then avoiding arrows fired from a training machine. As a result, she earned herself a modest score of 5 out of 11, placing her just below the average score of 6.6. When she was speaking to Caesar Flickerman in her interview, Ceres mentioned that this score made her less of a target, and she was satisfied with it.

Bloodbath & Death

Ceres was hot off the mark into the Bloodbath, straight towards the Cornucopia and the hallowed weapons cache. She was lucky to remain inconspicuous as all the other tributes attacked each other - ignoring her. Sperring and Sapphire were cut down, and Ceres was still unhurt. She continued, neither attacking nor being attacked, but her ally Michael was killed by Charas Harp and she knew she had to act. Quickly, the other tributes began to target her, repeatedly dealing her blows with fists and weapons. Before Ceres even had a chance to retaliate, Charas cleanly slit her throat, and she fell, never to run or fight again.
