Pregames
Early Life
Maiya is born to childhood sweethearts, the first baby to survive after a stillborn daughter. Her parents never tell her about her elder sister Cynthia, and the obedient child never finds out. She becomes attached to her teddy bear, Freckles, in the early years of her life and begins to develop obsessive compulsive tendencies. Soon afterward, OCD is diagnosed. She develops an interest in medicine and trains as a career to learn to defend herself, and to follow her parent's wishes. Before being reaped, the Hunger Games horrified her, especially when Topaz volunteers for her sister.
Reaping
The moment Maiya is reaped, she believes she will die in the Games. She imagines people standing around the District Square, talking about her death or mentioning her injuries. She cannot seem to shake the thought of death from her mind, considering herself to be weak and without a chance. As she climbs onto the stage, she does not cry. The girl does not consider stepping down and asking for a volunteer, thinking that should not be done and goes against the general code. She introduces herself to Panem and smiles at her District partner, Julian Bryze.

The Sixtieth Hunger Games
Day One
Still believing that she does not match up to her competition, Maiya enters the Bloodbath. She thinks herself to be inferior, perhaps due to her incredibly small stature and quiet personality. Reality sinks in as the gong sounds and she runs without direction or a plan. As she watches somebody die, she begins to panic. Not sure what to do, she reaches out and attacks Baylee Spencer, claiming her harpoon. She decides to leave, smiling proudly at her weapon. The girl is shocked and afraid of the blood that surrounds her.
After the Bloodbath, Maiya travels to the Falling Sand. Terrified, she struggles to run in the sand, barely managing to walk. She heads for a distant tower.
While continuing to walk through the Falling Sand, Maiya decides that she needs a water jug. Lone tribute Ally Willics has one, and Maiya attacks. She only manages to cause a shallow cut.
"I'm sorry! I want your water jug! Give me your water jug! Please! I don't want to fight!" -Maiya to Ally
She then attempts to make herself seem smaller. Ally attacks back, landing a deep gash in the young girl's bicep. The larger girl continued to attack Maiya, asking her to leave, but Maiya fought back, causing her attacker very little damage. Finally, while pleading for the jug, Maiya managed to stab Ally's bicep. Shortly afterwards, Maiya's collarbone was shattered by Ally's flail and despite Maiya begging that they stop fighting, they continue to attack each other. After Maiya's leg is broken, she finally stabs her opponent in the eye, claiming the precious water jug and beginning to cry.
Kiara Mason takes the opportunity to attack the injured girl, and splits her skull with an axe.
