That night, a storm roared around the allies as they huddled in the caves. When they woke, they found two tributes from two of the larger alliances come to rest near them: [[Daniel Tate]] and [[Minos Vallanso]], and [[Weaver Rhodes]] and [[Iona Holbrook]]. Emmery, Iris and Travers decided it would be advantageous to form a truce with the former pair, who seemed stronger in spirit than the others, and who the Spelunkers had bonded with more solidly in the Training Centre, and at Renée's funeral. Early Life
Emmery, like most of the families of District Five, grew up poor and in fear of the Hunger Games. Her mother was a notoriously strict woman regarding Emmery's upbringing, however she and Emmery's father still showed the child intense love. When Emmery turned twelve, her father was killed in a hunting accident, and this affected the girl for the rest of her life. Nevertheless, she and her mother came out stronger, and the event made Emmery determined to live her life worthily from then onwards. (Biography)
Before the Hunger Games
The 73rd Reaping
Emmery was reaped alongside Minos Vallanso in District Five. It took Emmery a while to process the fact that her name had been called, but by the time she was on the stage with Minos, she had come to the conclusion that the Games would be good for her - in that by being reaped she had saved every other girl in the District. The only fear she had was the knowledge she wouldn't live much longer. (The Reaping)
The Train Journey
On the train to the Capitol, Emmery and Minos introduced themselves to each other properly. By this point, Emmery's nerves had caught up with her, and even as Minos tried to make jokes and set off to find their mentor, Lethe Turner, Emmery couldn't concentrate on them. (The Train Journey)
The Training Centre
Emmery tried to keep herself to herself in the Training Centre, only socialising at the all-tributes game of Spin the Bottle, which happened on the final night before the Bloodbath. In the game, Emmery found herself partnered with Stevie Masinova, who was extremely drunk when he leant to kiss her. Emmery found herself disgusted by the boy, but also excited to be part of the game. Despite her attempt to keep a low profile, Emmery's involvement in the game made her visible to some other tributes. After being awarded a 5 for her Private Training Session, she was invited to an alliance by Iris Flower-Oak, Heathcliff Travers, and Renée Perdris. The 73rd Hunger Games
The Bloodbath
Entering the Bloodbath, Emmery struggled to stay in control. When the gong sounded, Emmery sprinted into the fray, and managed to remain undetected for a fairly long time, without a single tribute turning on her as she fought her way to the items she so needed. She first broke the nose of Lucrezia Eckhart, however before she got a chance to attack again, her ally Renée fell victim to a lethal attack from Percy Delacroix. After that, it started to go downhill for Emmery as the same girl-group turned on her, with Achlles Muto striking first. Emmery's ally Heathcliff came to her defense, and Renée's vengeance by killing Percy. Soon after that, Emmery and her remaining allies decided it was best to flee while they still had a chance to. (The Bloodbath)
Day 1
After the carnage of the Bloodbath, the remaining Spelunkers and a host of other tributes brought together a funeral for their fallen ally, Renée, at the Arena's pool of molten gold. It wasn't the first time that Emmery had had to accept death, and she committed Renée's name and story to her memory, to hold it dear. (Day 1)
Day 2
On the second day in the Arena, the Spelunkers stumbled their way to the pool of boiling blood. They were ambushed there by three demonic muttations of the Gamemakers' design. Armed with her flail, Emmery first turned on the Loch, letting her allies deal with the pair of Cave Spiders that crawled down the cave walls towards them. Emmery was driven on by the thought of survival - not victory - and as her allies dealt with the spiders, and she brought the loch closer and closer to death, the hope of survival carried her through the fight, and through that evening. (Day 2)
Day 3
That night, a storm roared around the allies as they huddled in the caves. When they woke, they found two tributes from two of the larger alliances come to rest near them: Daniel Tate and Minos Vallanso, and Weaver Rhodes and Iona Holbrook. Emmery, Iris and Travers decided it would be advantageous to form a truce with the former pair, who seemed stronger in spirit than the others, and who the Spelunkers had bonded with more solidly in the Training Centre, and at Renée's funeral. Emmery took the decision to target Iona first, letting Travers handle Weaver. Her blows were true, and she managed to remain mostly uninsured until Daniel killed Iona with one of his arrows, which he fired deep into her neck. It was Emmery's ally Travers who was injured the worst, but nevertheless the Spelunkers persevered, and finally managed to fell Weaver, too. Daniel and Minos scattered, leaving Emmery and her allies to tend their wounds in peace. (Day 3)
Day 4
Emmery awoke with her thoughts still on Minos. She hoped that he as safe, but more than that she prayed that it wouldn't come to the two of them fighting each other. However, she couldn't dwell on her thoughts for long, as suddenly a mysterious blue light filled the Arena, luring the Spelunkers to the Cornucopia. When they arrived, they saw that not only had several other tributes ended up there - the "Bros" Atlas White, Justice Fray and Machaon Amador and the District Four duo Scout Krigel and Roger Strangways-Teach - but also a giant dragon-like monster, with the intent of destroying all the tributes, regardless of alliance. Emmery and her allies decided that killing the dragon was their priority, and hoped that the other tributes would set aside their rivalries and do the same. Nevertheless, the Bros turned on Travers, relentlessly attacking him and ignoring the muttation. Roger tried to come to Travers' defense, attacking the Bros in turn, but there was no way to save Travers. Under the blows, Travers was killed, no matter that Iris had already managed to slay the dragon. In order to prevent any further damage to themselves, Emmery and Iris fled. (Day 4)
Day 5 and Death
On Day 5, Emmery and Iris didn't stray far from the Cornucopia, however as they woke they knew it might have been better to flee. Nearby, Roger and Scout still rested, and although the Bros were by then far away, their female counterparts, the "Hoes" Lucrezia Eckhart and Achilles Muto, had arrived. The three pairs of allies descended on each other. While Iris turned on Lucrezia, trying to protect herself and Emmery, the latter focused on injuring Roger. Despite their heavy hits, it was Emmery who the tributes turned on. As Emmery was hit, she kept silent to stop them seeing her as weak or telling how scared she was. Iris, however, did scream, rushing to defend Emmery. She was too late, though, as Emmery fell dead, killed by the sheer volume of blows falling on her. (Day 5)
