Early Life
Pre Reaping
Prenten led a fairly normal life up until the 54th Reaping. He lived with his father and sister in the middle of the district. His mother was killed some time earlier for stealing bread in order to feed her family. Prenten worked during the days and attended school at night. However, that was not enough to cover their needs. So, he began to hun to support his family. His father worked in the fields as well, but even with all of the extra help, it was never enough. He liked hunting especially with his best friends, Darson and Karth.
Reaping
After hearing his name announced, Prenten sputters, unable to believe the announcement. His friends and family scream. He walks through a tunnel of boys he knows to reach the stage, wondering he could make a run for it. By the time he ascends, he has reasoned that there is nowhere to run. The escort encourages him to hurry, and so he stands straight and looks ahead, right at Evangeline, the female tribute. He knows instantly that he must kill her if he wants to come home. The thought nearly leads to crying.
Pre Arena
Training
Prenten spends a good chunk of his time in the Capitol talking to his fellow tributes. Early one, he reaches out to Windy Mathers. Despite making conversation, Prenten is constantly aware that he will have to kill these people in order to return to District Eleven. He makes light of his limited skills, laughing as he misses with a bow and arrow. As the days pass, he is suspicious of alliances forming, and when asked directly if he wants some friends, he replies tepidly, "sort of." Perhaps because of this lukewarm response, he is left out of further alliance discussions. He is rejected when he later approaches Arbor Halt and Windy Mathers about an alliance.
Interview
During his interview, Prenten is all too aware of the need for sponsors. He smiles to the camera and speaks directly to them about his decent training score. He compliments the Capitol's food, promises that he has no love interest back home and plays up the hardships in his life, including his deceased mother. He tells his remaining family that he loves them, and promises his competitors that he is coming for them.
The Arena
Bloodbath
Prenten is ready the moment the gong sounds. Despite his concern for the snow, he leaps off the platform and scoops his bag. He looks for Windy (their relationship having been mended off stage) and Senia, who is already dead. He scoops up a hammer, delighted with the find, and faces his foes. However, mostly everyone is already engaged in fighting or has fled, so Prenten follows their lead. He find himself on an ice-shelf and sets up camp, reviewing his supplies and enthusiastically commenting on each one. Through the snow, he has a hard time recognizing other tributes, and asks where Windy is.
Death
After escaping the Bloodbath, Prenten approaches Oz Myrrh and Blue Kilio. Though he offers them alliance, the discussion takes too long, and Prenten gets twitchy. He attacks first with his hammer, starting a long and arduous fight. Because the fight was so close, the fight was decided by the Gamemakers in favor of Prenten at first. However, after a discussion, Oz Myrrh was awarded the victory. Pretend died in pain, his broken ribs piercing his lungs. He cursed Oz, telling him, "I hope my death haunts you forever."
