Early Life
Jay Krearns did not have the most pleasant childhoods. He spent his school years with basically no friends (and the few could arguably be called not proper friends) and being bullied by the older kids and his older brothers. However, when he was 16 true tragedy stuck when he went out surfing with his older brothers Mason Krearns and Davy Krearns. Davy was killed in a shark attack after risking his life to save Jay's resulting in him feeling a lot of remorse and guilt.
More tragedy struck when Mason was mauled by a bear in a forest and fell into a coma right in front of Jay. Had Jay not fended the bear off and helped his brother to the hospital then he surely would have died. Luckily, Mason ended up waking up from his coma and they tried their best to live until the next tragedy struck.
Mason was reaped into the 62nd Hunger Games and Jay was forced to watch as Mason had his skull crushed. As a result, Jay developed schizophrenia similar to Mason did.
68th Hunger Games
It was not Jay's name was that pulled out of the reaping bowl; in fact, it was a stranger who Jay had never seen in his life. However, when he saw the boy's brother crying and he was reminded of his situation when Mason was reaped for the 62nd. This moved him to the point where he ended up volunteering as tribute to replace him and allow him to stay with his brother despite the fact it meant certain death for him.
Formed an alliance with Blaire Sycamore of District 5 & Jim Deer of District 12 out of necessity and he felt they were strong enough. He also acquired a private training score of 6. This was done by him showing off his skills with: a sword, an axe and tar. He quickly dismembered a group of five dummies and upon doing so he strung them up and set them all on fire with flaming throwing axes.
Day 1
Jay entered the bloodbath and was surprised to see the arena was dark but quickly realised it was only a big cave. Luckily, torches illuminated the cornucopia so he could see who he was attacking and what items he would pick up. As soon as the games started he ran towards the cornucopia with determination and resolve (despite not wanting to fight) and was quick to deal his little bit of damage. He started off by punching July Cartwright in the back and leaving a bruise on it. Upon doing so, he stumbled upon an iron cudgel which he picked up. He then used it as a weapon but hitting Stella Calloway with it but only bruised her wrist. As the number of people in the bloodbath began to wind down he picked up his bag and was quickly attacked by Fionnbharr Stoddard who tore open his thigh. Upon gaining an injury he fled before he could acquire any more serious injuries.
Upon fleeing the cornucopia in the darkness he stumbled upon his allies. Jim was practically half dead, he had a broken arm and had been gashed and stabbed in various places. Luckily, Blaire was in good condition. Blaire gave Jay his bone sword (as it would be much more useful than an iron cudgel) and Jay gave Blaire the cudgel. While they were together, Jay received his first sponsorship which contained an empty water jug and and anti-venom. Upon seeing how badly Jim was injured he rolled his eyes, questioned if Jim really knew what he was doing and scolded him for not being more careful. Together, the three of them did their best to patch Jim up for the next day.
