Potato Earnest

Potato was a tribute in the 67th Hunger Games. He is notable for his odd name and way of speaking, as well as being one of the only D11m tributes to make it so far. He was married to Opal Earnest before entering the games.

Early Life

Potato was born to two farmers in District 11 who happened to mainly farm root vegetables. He was named by his three year old sister, Nightshade Earnest who decided that he looked very much like a potato and named him after one as a result. Growing up he was very much the ugly duckling but was a very happy child. His only joy in life was gardening and he was very good at it as well. His downfall was his ugly appearance and he was often bullied for it, but it never bothered him much. When he hit puberty he flourished in the looks department and became rather handsome.

Potato grew up in a Ripred fearing family and went to church every Sunday. He mentions Ripred a lot in his posts.

64th Victor Tour

Opal Earnest nee Shore arrived in D11 on her victor tour as he was in the middle of working one of his fields. His singing to his plants caught her attention and they formed an instant bond. He showed her his garden and she loved it, as she also had an affinity for plants. When she had to leave the District he walked her to the train.

Drought Plot

Set in the summer between the 66th and 67th games, the Drought plot was created by Elegant and Cass in an effort to not only create a site wide plot, but bring Opal and Potato back together as well. It having been a two year time jump, a lot changed for Potato. His parents passed away during the drought from starvation and his sister disappeared. Later we found out that she went off to become a Peacekeeper. Opal volunteered during the drought plot and found Potato on the verge of death himself as well as in complete despair. During the months before the reaping she cared for him physically and emotionally, strengthening their bond.

67th Hunger Games

When Potato was reaped he was only just recovered from the Drought Plot, but he still held a lot of bitterness in his heart and was questioning Ripred. On the train to the Capitol, Potato made friends with Ingrid Elwyn. During his time in the training center he proposed and consummated his marriage to Opal.

Early Games

Potato made it out of the BB alive and relatively unscathed. He then received an engraved sword in sponsorship from his new wife.

Kills

Surprising to not only his writer but everyone involved, Potato managed to kill two careers in insta hits. He decapitated Tiger at the Riverbed and stabbed Jem through the heart in the mine. He later killed his alliance member Sonja at the Riverbed.

Death

Potato was killed by the eventual victor, Leon Krigel at the Riverbed.
