Early Life
The Dempsey family name was notorious by the time Kiera was a teenager, thanks to her cousin Kaelen, an infamous serial killer. Kiera herself belonged to a large branch of the Dempsey family, with four sisters. The family was the victim of poverty and gang warfare in District One, although both of Kiera's parents were pacifists. As a result, Kiera trained with her uncle - Kaelen's father - in order to up her chances of survival in the Games.

Reaping and Training
Kiera volunteered after Ella Dahl-Moreno didn't respond to her name being called. Due to the difference in their social and financial standings, even though their families were of roughly the same size, there was already a conflict between the Morenos and the Dempseys, and when Kiera volunteered for Ella's spot, Gang Wars broke out between the families. Kiera was calm and determined as she volunteered, and stood alongside Peridot Myler who had been Reaped outright.
Kiera was visited by many members of her family after she volunteered, each with a mixed range of emotions, and was also visited by The Detective, a Peacekeeper who Kiera had previously had contact with.
Kiera met her mentor Topaz Ross in the Training Centre, and the two got on well. Topaz genuinely hoped that Kiera would win, although warned her not to behave as Topaz had done, as she wouldn't be able to come back from it. Kiera disagreed, amiably telling Topaz that there was light in her yet.
Kiera allied with Atlas Cornell and Peridot, as well as lower-district tribute Wednesdae Drummond. Kiera and Peridot had already decided to stick together when they saw Wes training and concluded he would make a strong ally. Atlas then approached the three and invited himself to join their alliance. They called themselves The Argonauts.
Kiera's Private Training Session
In Kiera's Private Training Session, she impressed the Gamemakers with her knowledge of different plants, although because she did not show any skills with a weapon - something expected of a Career - she was only awarded a 6.
In her interview, Kiera showed her confidence, as well as her dominance over the other tributes and Caesar himself. She played the hero, explaining how she volunteered in Ella's place to save her friend, rather to come home a Victor. Finally she left a message for her family - including Kaelen - and told the other tributes to watch out for her.
Bloodbath
Kiera and her allies found each other immediately when they entered the Bloodbath, and by that time other tributes had already turned and fled, or were fighting heartily, although no one had been struck down dead yet. Another group of tributes led by Dragan Baron began to attack Atlas, hoping that their joint strength might kill him and leave one less Career to worry about, Kiera retaliated, lashing out at Almar Nichols along with her allies. For a time it seemed like the Argonauts might defeat the rival alliance, however Atlas fell first, killed ultimately by Vitani Loewen. The remaining Argonauts turned their weapons on Vitani in revenge, however they could not kill her before she fled. The Argonauts resumed their original formation and lunged at Almar once again, until he also fled. Straight after, Wednesdae managed to kill Almar's ally Dragan, stabbing him in the eye, which Kiera found admirable. All at once, the place where the Argonauts stood was flooded with other tributes from various alliances. Kiera chose to attack Mason Krearns of the new bunch, and her allies followed her lead. Once she was sure Mason was injured, she turned to Theseus Rhodium and then Naveen Casovnik, hoping for a precision hit like Wednesdae had dealt Dragan. Her wish was granted when she retaliated to Theseus' defensive move as he threw her to the ground, however instead of acting with precision she implemented brute force, and split Theseus' skull. By this point the number of tributes around the Cornucopia were dwindling. Peridot decreased the number further by matching his allies' instant-kills, splitting the skull of Mason Krearns in a similar fashion to Kiera. Finally, the remaining tributes understood the unstoppable strength of the three Argonauts and abandoned their hopes of obtaining the Wealth, which the Argonauts dealt out between themselves.
Day 1
After spotting Aria Wolfe being attacked by several tributes at the River Styx, Kiera and the others came to her aid. Kiera managed to kill one attacker Lydie Mansonna, and the others fled.
Soon after, Kiera saw Almar Nichols being attacked by Ellea Banks, however seeing Almar as a victim rather than a strong tribute like Aria, she joined in the attack. Ellea fled, leaving Almar as Kiera's prey. She killed him easily and left the scene.
Kiera and Wednesdae formed a friendship on Day 1, although at first there was rivalry. In place of their dead ally Atlas, the Argonauts adopted Aria, knowing the power a fourth ally could give them. Kiera warned Aria that it was only because Peridot liked her that she had joined their alliance, and if she fell from favour they would kill her.
Day 2
On Day 2 the alliance moved to the Statue Garden, where they encountered a rival alliance, the Stars of Orion. Kiera was attacked, and in retaliation aimed her blows at Learna Libertine. In a surprising turn of events, the Stars of Orion committed mutiny as soon as the Argonauts struck Learna, even helping them along to kill her. Despite the aid of the rival alliance, Wednesday felled Learna, and the Argonauts fled before the Stars of Orion could get their senses back and attack the right side again.
Day 3
By Day 3, Kiera and Wednesdae's relationship had developed past friendship. The two shared many characteristics, which made them a match - Kiera felt much more comfortable with Wednesdae (who was actually falling in love with her) than with Peridot and Aria, who clearly had a bond of their own. A muttation in the form of Cerberus didn't seem to phase any of the four tributes as they fought it bravely. Kiera landed the final blow, and immediately turned to Wednesdae, chiding him for engaging the beast in the first place. However, it soon became clear that her anger was for Wes endangering his own safety, not hers - that she couldn't live without him in the Arena. As Wednesdae engages with Peridot in an argument, Kiera pulls them apart, dragging Wes off with her to calm down.
When the pair found some privacy, Kiera used the silence to think over her feelings for Wes, and realised she was falling in love with him, too. After talking for several moments, Kiera washing herself thoroughly in the river while Wednesdae sat on the bank, the two drew close to each other, and kissed. They spent the night by the river in each other's arms, not rejoining their allies until morning.
Day 4 and Death
In the night, Peri, Aria, Wes and Kiera were all plagued with terrible nightmares, and when they awoke the visions they had seen did not quite leave them. As a result, they waved their weapons almost blindly, hitting each other only by chance as they tried to fight off the spectres that they saw. Kiera herself dreamed of Wednesdae betraying her, stabbing her while they embraced each other, and in retaliation she lunged out at the real Wednesdae, stabbing him in the chest in a similar fashion. Despite this strong start, the demons plaguing Kiera's three allies mostly manifested themselves on her form, and their blows landed on her. Peridot first severed one of Kiera's arms. Kiera felt this and retaliated, lashing out at Peridot's legs even though she didn't know it was really him. As Aria also turned on Kiera in her waking nightmare, Kiera began to attack herself, trying to ward off the Devils that surrounded her. Fuelled by self-hatred, now seeing herself as the demon she wanted to stop, Kiera managed to sever her own foot. As she collapsed on the ground the visions finally cleared, and she realised that she was dying - that her injuries were beyond healing now.
As she bled out, Kiera called for Wednesdae, apologising for not being able to carry on fighting. Then she called to her other two allies. To Peridot she gave her token, a necklace with a phial of water dangling from it, and to Aria she gave her sword. In her last moments, she begged Wednesdae to sing to her, which he did, helping her to finally fall asleep. Before she closed her eyes, Kiera thought about each of her allies in turn. Somehow, she seemed to already know that Peridot would win, having faith in him to do so. Despite this, when she turned to Wednesdae, she begged him to win - for her. She remembered their embraces the night before, how Wes had called her beautiful, and how much she had grown to love him in her dying moments. Kiera was so proud of how far Aria had come, and how she promised to live in Kiera's name. Finally, Kiera asked to be put in the water when she died, as that was where she belonged. Her cannon fired and, after one long conversation with Death in the form of Kaelen Dempsey and her sister Blair, Kiera was finally gone.
