History
Scarlett Stroms was born in the year of the 57th Hunger Games. Her mother was a direct descendant of a long line of secret assassins in District 10 that originated during the Dark Days, and her father was a brain surgeon rumoured to have worked in the Capitol. Growing up in one of the largest and richest homes in District 10, Scarlett was an only child for the first 17 years of her life. She was treated cruelly by her heartless, cold mother and weak father, who was afraid of his wife and her cunning. Her childhood was fraught with emotional abuse and fear of her mother, longing for her to accept and love Scarlett as a mother should love a daughter. Because of this treatment Scarlett never understood the concept of love or affection, having never received it as a child.
At age 7 her mother first instructed her to pick up a sword. Despite protests of lawbreaking, her mother struck her across the face and forced her to pick up the weapon. From then on she was trained in secret with her mother to become a ruthless assassin, killing enemies of her family at her mother's orders by day. By night, she would sneak out under the ruse of 'Scout', luring men to their bedrooms and killing them at night. Promiscuous and beautiful, she turned her looks into a weapon and sought after older victims. Her trademark was slashing their throats open whilst they slept - or worse - whilst they were still conscious. It was rumoured that 'Scout' had stabbed a girl in the eye for simply looking at her.
At age 17, in an assassination attempt gone wrong, Scarlett's parents brought a near-dead boy to their home, hit in the crossfires of an attack on his family. Her father brought him back to life with no memories of his former self, naming him Lazarus Stroms. Her mother than proceeded to train Lazarus who was a natural killer, much to Scarlett's horror and bitter jealousy. The two were sent on assassination missions, often pitted against each-other by their mother. When Lazarus volunteered Scarlett followed suit, refusing to let him have the glory and leave her behind to face the wrath of her mother. Only after she volunteered did she realise they were escaping the horrors of her home life and the cruel woman she had called her mother her entire life.
75th Hunger Games
Pre-Games
Scarlett volunteered as part of the 75th Quell twist that accepted only volunteers along with her adopted brother Lazarus Stroms. In the Capitol she received a training score of 10 after displaying 53 different ways to murder 53 different training dummies, signifying the 53 other volunteer tributes.
Lazarus discovered his real name, Peter Cottonmouth - information which he shared with his sister in the Training Centre. Scarlett also had a one-night stand with Helios Delacroix who cried throughout the entire thing.
The Bloodbath
Scarlett was taken aback by the Bloodbath and thrown completely off-guard. Rather than murdering tributes and claiming the cornucopia with her brother like she had planned, she found Lazarus nowhere to be seen. Grabbing a few seemingly useless crayons, she fled with Shelby Leviane in tow.
Day 1.5
Bored and going mad, Scarlett and Shelby decided to kidnap Helios and Asriel Dreamurr in exchange for weapons. When their allies came to rescure them, Scarlett attacked and crushed Brooke Destins skull in the process. Letting Helios get rescued once realising nobody had weapons, Scarlett decided that Shelby would be useful and set off to find her brother.
As they walked, a window looking into the parralel side of the arena opened up. Scarlett saw Lazarus' dead body float past for a few moments. In shocked retaliation she drew a scarlet katana on the wall with her crayon and found it transformed into a real weapon. From there she drew supplied, including metallic-coloured armour in tribute to her late brother.
Day 2
Scarlett and Shelby fought Asriel and Jano Karmichael from the previous day.
Death
In an ironic turn of events, tiny Asriel Dreamurr from District 2 slashed her across the throat, killing her in her own trademark fashion as she was about to end his ally Jano Karmichael's life. She bled out, choking and drowning in her own blood, dying in the lap of a sobbing Shelby Leviane.
Trivia
- Scarlett and her brother Lazarus never saw each-other in the arena until Lazarus was killed, and only then was this through a mirror on one of the walls of the Stilted Mansion & Mansion Prime.
- The Stroms siblings' bickering quirks and duo fight style was heavily inspired by Emerald and Mercury from the anime RWBY.
- Scarlett wielded a scarlet katana until her death.
- Scarlett made Helios cry whilst they hooked up in the Training Centre.
- Upon the Capitol realising the Stroms childrens abilities, they had their parents shot dead in their home.
- Scarlett was the last blood descendant of her maternal assassin line.
- In the 'in-between', a fictional afterlife for Zoe's tributes, Scarlett brought lightning. This lightning almost destroyed the in-between until Samira Hart fought her off and Aria Wolfe turned back time to age her back down to 7 years old, effectively erasing her horrible past and allowing her soul to start anew and be forgiven.
