Early Life

Berkley lived a sheltered life, well as great a sheltered life as any child that had to watch twenty four kids kill each other could. They tried to protect Berkley from the horrors of life, his family, owning the biggest ranch of district eight made it easier, as he was able to spend most of his time wondering the lands. Berkley was lucky enough to live one of the more privileged lives of the people of district eight.Because of the large ranch his family earned quite a bit of income and that enabled Berkley to gain a lot of things that others did not get. Due to the fact that his mother had always struggled with pregnancy and had suffered many miscarriages Berkley had become the high light of her life. She was overly protective of him, to the extent that he was never allowed to attend a proper school and instead had to be home schooled as his mother worried that he might get into drugs, which she could not bare. The only times Berkley was even allowed off the ranch and into town was for the reaping and on those days his mother would always fret over him, eyes filled with tears.

Berkley had few friends growing up, most of the people on the ranch were much older then him so he preferred to stay by himself. Because of his solitude he had a great imagination, entertaining himself with imaginary friends and games that he had created himself. Needless to say he grew up into a rather awkward boy, one very sure and uncertain in almost any social situation he was thrown into. Even though there were a few boys of his own age on the ranch they generally treated him as though he was the boss, fearful of his father. After a few attempts at trying to make them think otherwise he gave up, sticking to the company of himself.

Pregames

The training center was a dull affair for Berkley. After shyly introducing himself to both Naida Gardez and Dysis Admea there was little more for Berkley to do. After informing Dysis that she needs more work with her sword and apologizing for being so rude the two spoke with a touch more friendliness. Naida introduced herself by way of telling them both that they needed more work. He stuck close to them and the group quickly grew close and formed an alliance that stuck through the length of the games.

Bloodbath

Berkley entered the Bloodbath quickly, shoving back the fear and worry that had threatened to overwhelmed him he leaps off his plate, the gong echoing in the air. Berkley wanting to reach the cornucopia as fast as he can almost bumps into his first victim Sperring Kapow, after lashing out with his foot and sending the tribute on his way with a broken wrist he scrambles on the frozen ground grabbing a hatchet. Hissing Berkley backs away, once more turning to face Sperring he lashes out, hands wound tightly around the hatchet. He grins as blood spurts out from a deep gash on Sperring's arm. Sperring once more tries to defend himself raising the mace to hit Berkley. After another failed attempt at landing a hit on Sperring he grabs some more items, then seeing the bashed and bruised boy once more he aims another attack. This time his hatchet strikes home and the young boy from district four is killed. Feeling more alive then ever Berkley continues to fight, now turning his attention to another tribute, Michael Smith, he attacks, once more causing blood to flow. Gleefully Berkley continues his attacks, opening up wound after wound on his next victim. He looks as if he is almost going to start to laugh with the joy of what he is doing. Then suddenly people are attacking him, two of his fingers go missing before he can even react. After another round of pounding Berkley has had enough, with a smirk on his face he flees.

Day One

After fleeing from the chaos of the bloodbath Berkley takes a moment to find his two allies. After spotting the injured Dysis Admea he then turns his attention to looking for Naida Gardez who has not yet turned up. Biting back a grunt of pain Berkley turns his attention once more onto Dysis, who has begun to mumble rubbish about climbing trees. Patience worn thin he snaps at her to focus, before moving off to find some plants that can hopefully stop the pain he is in. Dysis, unsure about the plants suggests getting some real food, and offers to use some of the trapping skills she had gained whilst in the training center. After returning empty handed she asks her ally if he was alright. Berkley immediately starts to laugh, finding the idea of being okay in the situation that they are in rather funny. But he replies by saying how great he was and that he had never felt more alive in his life. Finally Naida turns up and comes and joins the rest of her allies. Berkley is excited to see her and shows her the items he managed to grab from the bloodbath. The three heal one another, with Dysis promising that she would make it up to them, after failing to catch anything and escaping the bloodbath with the least amount of items out of the three of them.

Day Two

Having survived day one, the alliance is forced to battle the powerhouse alliance The Bros. Berkley having woken up depressed at the fact that he had no one to attack and no blood to spill is evidently delighted at this no situation. Neither Dysis or Naida share his same enthusiasm, and Dysis quickly becomes the target of the powerful alliance. Furious at this Berkley attempts to get the gang of kids to leave Dysis alone as none of them listen he attacks, using Mr Swipey to hit Denver Samuels. The group ignores him and continues attacking the defenseless, weak Dysis, after another round of attacks she is struck down, unable to fight back against the tidal wave of blows that rip into her. Seeing Dysis killed makes Berkley think and realise that maybe this is actually serious and that people do want to kill you. Fearful and angry berkley flees, running away from his dead ally with Naida.

Day Three

Day three begins with Berkley being attacked by Shayde Truedhart the former ally of Sperring Kapow, who Berkley had murdered. Enraged and unable to hold himself back Shayde charges at Berkley, seeking revenge for what had happened to Sperring. Shayde's new allies Charas Harp and Sawyer Monaghan join in and together they deal a small amount of damage to Berkley. Berkley surprised by this quickly flees. Fleeing from this attack Berkley runs into Naida and the two of them rest, drinking and gathering firewood to stay warm. Berkley is depressed and more so upset by the lack of communication going on between him and his hatchet Mr Swipey. Frustrated that the blade will not talk to him he lets Naida attend his wounds.

Day Four

Day Four brings with it a new battle. Nadia and Berkley are forced to fight two Hellhound's. Both of which seem intent on killing Berkley's ally Nadia. Fustrated and angry Berkley charges at them. The fight begins off with both sides dealing out a lot of damage, but as the loss of blood becomes too much for the district four girl her blows become weaker. Berkley having not even been attack keeps fighting strongly with Mr Swipey. The two - Mr Swipey and Berkley - appear to be talking again, as the blade sings with the slick colour of blood, severing feet and opening up deep wounds in his foes. Just as it looks like it is going to be too much for Naida the first Hellhound falls. Quickly the two flee the last one as it begins to cry over its fallen mate. Berkley, desperate to not loose another ally tries his best to use first aid on Naida.

Day Five

The battle began early. The two allies were faced with Midas Farrow, with two of them it seemed that it would be an easy fight. However it appeared that Midas was not going to give up so easily. Blood flows as Midas relentlessly attacks Naida, Naida fights back, Berkley by her side. Both do little damage in ocmparison to Midas's strong hits. However, with the power of both of them Berkley is finally able to overcome Midas and Midas falls, calling out his lovers name. Naida is given little respite as the two are further more ambushed by Alexander Hood, Sawyer Monaghan and Mace Emberstatt. Alexander's initial throw catches Naida unawares and she is killed instantly. Berkley overcome is attacked by both Mace and Sawyer before he is able to think and as once before he is forced to finally flee, leaving behind Naida's body. After Naida's death Berkley is left with a shocking decision on the brink of starvation he has to either eat his own hand or die a slow and painful death. Unwilling to give up life just yet Berkley bravely chops off his own hand and eats it.

Day Six

The day of the penguins attacked. It had been a day where Berkley had suffered most. After loosing his allies he was forced to face the duo of Sundra Wie and Aesop Bloom the two attacked Berkley. However dispirited the young boy was he fought back. Hitting Sundra with everything he could, but everything had not been enough. A shower of penguins fell and all of them were engulfed and it was those wounds that killed Berkley.
